AP Lang has ruined my childhood! We were discussing gender roles and that led to a discussion about Disney and all the hidden messages that you can’t really tell are there unless you think about it. Like, in the Little Mermaid, Ariel gives everything up for a guy and gives up her ability to speak which symbolizes the inability for women to have their own opinions and speak their minds. Who thinks like that when they’re watching Disney movies? I mean, really? SMH…
